Youth Groups

Youth groups offer activities for children and youth to connect with peers and adult role models in a positive, youth friendly environment.  Youth group programs and activities help kids learn about God and explore their personal faith.  Each group takes into consideration the spiritual understanding and emotional development for children at their age. The three groups are:

Sr. High youth group is for youth in high school.  The focus of this group is ministry within and ministry
beyond our church walls as well as developing authentic Christian community among the group.  Backdoor Ecclesia is our discipleship and spiritual growth program on the 2nd Monday of each month.  Youth Leadership Team is our leadership development and planning meeting for youth and adult leaders, usually on the 1st Sunday of each month at 12:15 pm.  We plan a number of other special events and service projects throughout the year.  Each summer we plan a summer trip.  In summer 2008 we will attend the UCC National Youth Event over July 24-28.

Jr. High youth group is for youth in 7th through 8th grade.  Group activities are coordinated with the confirmation class and include an annual retreat, fellowship activities, and service projects.

Elementary youth group, a.k.a. P.A.K.T. is for children in 1st through 6th grade.  The group focuses on creating events for youth and their families.  PAKT is an acronym for Parents And Kids Together.  Our Elementary activities are designed not only for the children, but also for their families.  Through our activities we learn about how to be a good family member.  During the year, we will ask each family to create their own Family Pact as a way of teaching the importance of being a positive contributor to their family.  We’ll also learn that each family is unique, but loving our family, whatever form the family may take, is important.
